Popular Class 2 14ers
One of the most popular class 2 14ers in Colorado is Mount Sherman. Located in the Mosquito Range, this mountain has routes along its southwest ridge, an elevation gain of 2,100 feet, and a distance of 5.25 miles. Mount Sherman is close to Leadville Colorado, which offers year-round recreation like skiing, sledding, and horseback riding. And then there’s Mount Bross, another mountain in the Mosquito range. Bross has routes along its western slopes, an elevation gain of 2,2500 feet, and a distance of 3.25 miles. This mountain is part of the Lincoln Group, which includes Mounts Lincoln, Cameron, and Democrat.
With that said, Mount Cameron and Mount Lincoln are also very popular class 2 14ers in Colorado. Cameron has a standard route along its west ridge, an elevation gain of 2,250 feet, and a distance of 4.75 miles. Mount Lincoln has a standard route along its western ridge, an elevation gain of 2,600 feet, and a distance of 6 miles. If you are planning to visit this area, consider staying in Alma.
