Saving Tips

Saving money is an important goal for most adults, especially if are looking to buy a home in Colorado. Putting at least 20% down on a home will increase your chances of getting approved for a mortgage at a decent rate, and will allow you to avoid mortgage insurance. So, how do you save that much money? You can start by cutting out unnecessary expenses. If you are paying a company to clean your house or manage your yardwork, save that money and do it yourself. However, there’s more strategic things that you can do to save money. Also, if you are looking to buy or sell a home in Colorado, consider Mark Eibner as your agent.

Ways To Save

Take an inventory of your recurring monthly bills. With a list of everything in front of you, you can assess if there’s anything that you can get rid of. Magazine subscriptions are usually the first to go—everything’s online now anyways. But what about your cell phone and cable bills? Of course there’s no getting rid of your phone in 2021, but is there a cheaper plan that you can switch to with your provider? If you pay for cable tv, consider making the switch over to a streaming service. They are almost always cheaper than cable services and you will get a better variety of movies and shows.

Now take a look at your day to day expenses. When it comes to groceries, medicine, cleaning products, and toiletries, try using generic brands. Generic or store brands will always be cheaper than name brand items. Of course some things will not be as good as the name brands, but you won’t know until you try. If the generic brand doesn’t work for you, you can always switch back. And then there’s restaurants and fast food. Cooking from home is not only better for you health, but it will also save you a lot of time and money.
